DEAR JOHN; CLOSE, BUT NO FOOTAGE
For three weeks last fall, we hosted a flurry of set designers, producers, directors, and crew members from the then-in-production feature film Dear John. The latest Nicholas Sparks novel turned movie was filming all over Upper King, and our office received a total makeover complete with custom built sets. The draw, you ask? Our monstrous safe, of course! The head-turner that many of you are familiar with even catches the director's eye, apparently. Most of us did not mind the new look, we were excited to mix and mingle with "Hollywood"! Ahhh, but the crushing news came just moments before the scene was scheduled to be taped...production had overrun their timeline and budget. Although we will not be having another Sparks movie debut - you may remember our neon lights in the background of the famous evening street scene in The Notebook - we are anxiously awaiting Dear John's February 2010 release!
