BRIDGE RUN 2010

What a great day it was on Upper King! The 2010 Cooper River Bridge Run brought the route back to King Street; taking the runners off of Meeting Street, and guiding them onto King just North of our store! The hilarious costumes & high spirits of the runners were amazing! Bands & locals cheered from sidewalks as the masses pushed their way through the city. Thanks to those who helped bring the route back to King... and EXCELLENT job, runners!!

    WEIGHT A MINUTE....

    STEP
      RIGHT
       UP...

    NOBODY'S  WATCHING!

There is an interesting phenomenon going on here in Morris Sokol - it seems that a "doctor's scale" is totally irresistible to the unsuspecting customer. Now I have an advantageous view, so I've really gotten to study this intriguing behavior.

There are two basic weighing types...

First, you have the "sly scaler". This weight curious creature seems to be unaware of the big white scale until the most opportune moment. Usually a browser, probably thinking something like....ooo, nice mirror...maybe I could put this sea grass in my foyer...I like this lam- SCALE! hmm, what is a scale doing here? Then the "sly scaler" ever so casually glances around, not drawing attention, but obviously checking to see if anyone is watching...little do they know, I am! After confirming that they're in the clear, they slowwwly step on - oops! ...jingled the metal sliders too loud! Ok, no one is looking...hmmm...does that say...? And then there is usually a look of total devastation or smug indifference, occasionally there is smile.

The second weigher is the "Professional Pound Puncher." This one has no time to waste. As soon as he/she spots the scale, it's GO TIME! Sometimes it even seems like they knew the big white tower would be waiting on them. Quick and steady with anxious curiosity, the "Triple P" hops on gracefully. Skilled fingers glide the balancing hooks along the bar effortlessly and with great speed. There is usually no look of surprise once the number has been determined - this one knows their weight, he/she is just a compulsive weigher. Satisfied and affirmed, the "Triple P" hops off just as gracefully as he/she hopped on, and is off to browse the rest of the inventory!

.........ok, maybe I have too much time on my hands.

SPRING MIX - AND WE'RE NOT TALKIN' LETTUCE!

If you've not caught on to the latest word trend, you're not minding your "P's" and "Q's"! Word Art is a hot new sensation,  spelling its way into  our showrooms and homes. Playful phrases and common cliches are being etched onto everything from  new canvas to  salvaged old wood, and becoming electrifying statement pieces. Retro patterns and big florals are hot on fabrics, welcoming Spring with a color bursting "heyyy!"

    SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

What a beautiful weekend we just had! Finally, some Carolina sunshine to heat up our lowcountry after these low temps we've been battling! The BB&T Wine & Food Festival was a huge success, bringing lots of happy tourists to our friendly city. Hopefully you noticed our outdoor display...somebody sure did, as evidenced by the crab legs remnants!
